Commenced her undergraduate at CSU Long Beach in 2006 and graduated in May of 2011 with a Bachelors of Science in Marine Biology. Along the way she has studied Coral Ecology at Murdoch University in Perth, Western Australia; she has studied at the USC Wrigley Marine Science Center on Santa Catalina Island; and Larval Biology at the University of Washington Friday Harbor Laboratories on San Juan Island. She has been working part-time for the Aquatic Nursery at Cabrillo Marine Aquarium in San Pedro since January of 2013, and loves every minute of it! She has also been working for the Roundhouse Marine Studies Lab and Aquarium as an assistant aquarist and operations staff since January of 2016. She has learned so much from her work experience about marine life of southern California and educating the community about conservation and preservation of the natural environment. She is also currently a fourth semester graduate student in Dr. Danielle Zacherl’s Marine Ecology Lab at CSU Fullerton earning a Master’s of Science in Biology with an emphasis in Marine Ecology since the fall of 2016. Marissa married Arthur Wu in June of 2017, and they live happily with their white boxer, aptly named Powder, in Tustin.
