Cody Martin

Cody started coming to the aquarium with his mother when he was six months old. With both parents involved at the aquarium, he went to summer camp, slept with sharks, and camped at Catalina. When he was 13, he started volunteering at the aquarium and got an award for being the youngest volunteer. At 18, the aquarium board hired him for part-time aquarist work, and he still collects animals for the facility.

He owns his own business, which collects animals for aquariums and for cancer research. He interns with the Center for Whale Research located on the San Juan Islands to help photo identify orcas, and he has been accepted to NOAA’s team for detangling whales that are caught in fishing line or nets off the Pacific coast. Cody has a passion for the ocean and appreciates that he received his marine education and many lifelong friendships from being involved with the Aquarium.
