Juan Lopez
Juan joined the Roundhouse Aquarium in 2017, taking on the role of Educator and Operations Assistant. He found his love for teaching children about the ocean during his time as a volunteer at the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium. From there, Juan continued his career in informal science education, eventually becoming the Student Education Coordinator for the Roundhouse.
Now, Juan enjoys coming up with new curriculum and fun new ways to teach students. Growing up in the South Bay and having friends and family that love the ocean, Juan’s love for the marine environment came naturally. His favorite groups of students to teach are city kids who rarely see the ocean. Juan’s favorite ocean animal is the master of disguise and highly intelligent octopus! If you can’t find him in the aquarium or on the beach, Juan is most likely enjoying a drive up and down curvy backroads and stopping for a burger at Shake Shack.
