Tyler joined the Roundhouse staff in 2019 as a Public Education Assistant, not long after the completion of the aquarium’s most recent renovation. Tyler has always had a fondness for all things outdoors, spending the majority of his free time growing up at the beach, camping, or visiting many of the country’s national parks with his family. This led him to attend UC Santa Cruz and graduate with a degree in environmental studies focusing on habitat restoration. He spent the last two years of his education interning and doing field research for the International Drought Experiment.
After graduating, Tyler found himself back in Southern California working as an Outreach Instructor at Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, sparking his passion for educating the youth about our magnificent oceans. Since joining the Roundhouse team, Tyler has been able to continue educating about the world’s marine ecosystems both with the public and with school groups from both our onsite field trips and outreaches.
